(Batesville, Ind.) – The Ripley County Community Foundation is continuing to award monthly grants in honor of its 20th Anniversary.

In July, the RCCF awarded the Gibson Theatre with a $2,000 20th Anniversary Grant.

The Board of Directors issued the grant in recognition of the historic, economic and aesthetic values local movie theaters, such as the Gibson Theatre, have on Ripley County’s communities.

The grant money will be used to add handicap restrooms to the theatre.

“The Ripley County Community Foundation wants to support local communities in their efforts to enhance and rebuild their downtowns,” said Amy Steater, Executive Director of RCCF. “A movie theatre is a local gathering place which enhances the spirit of a town and promotes a sense of community.  Assisting the Gibson Theatre with its upgrades will make this unique movie watching experience available to everyone.”
