The victim, a widow, came home to find her house on Bielby Road had been broken into on December 20. The front door was busted and the victim’s bedroom was left in disarray, according to an affidavit filed in court by Lawrenceburg Police detectives.

Jewelry, a large amount of change, an iPad, and other items had been taken.

Investigators located some of the stolen items at a jewelry store in Harrison where they had been sold the same day as the burglary. The receipt on the sale had one suspect’s name: Alan J. Morgan. Further investigation led to identification of the second suspect as Steven B. Eves.

The burglary victim told police that she had recently paid Eves $100 to fix a toilet and sink at her home.

Both Eves, 25, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Morgan, 24, of Harrison, allegedly confessed the burglary when questioned by investigators. Morgan said they had been in the home for about 45 minutes after hiding outside waiting for the victim to leave for work. Eves told detectives that he received $900 for selling the stolen items.

Morgan was brought to Dearborn County on his warrants for Burglary (Class B felony), Theft (Class D felony) and Criminal Mischief (Class A misdemeanor) on May 9.

A Dearborn County warrant for Eves is still active.
