UPDATE: Bridge Jumper’s Body Found In Ohio River

Update published at 3:21 p.m.:

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department says that a person died after jumping from the I-275 Carroll Cropper Bridge on Monday morning.

DCSO Public Information Officer Deputy Brian Jansen says police responded to the bridge at about 8:13 a.m. after receiving reports that a male subject lept from the bridge into the Ohio River below.

The male’s body was recovered from the river approximately one hour later. His name has not been released.

I-275 entering Kentucky from Indiana was closed for approximately 45 minutes.

Assisting at the scene were Greendale Police Department, Dearborn County Water Rescue, Dearborn County Coroner’s Office, and Boone County agencies.

One lane of I-275 eastbound on the Carroll Cropper Bridge has reopened.

(Petersburg, Ky.) – The Interstate 275 Carroll Cropper Bridge has been shut down Monday morning.

There are reports that a person may have jumped or fallen from the bridge at around 8:00 a.m.

The eastbound lanes of the I-275 bridge – going from Indiana into Kentucky – are closed. Greendale Police advise that the bridge may be closed for a while as authorities investigate the incident.

The westbound lanes of I-275 crossing the Ohio River bridge are open.
