Press release from Ripley County Community Foundation

(Ripley County, Ind.) – Thanks to its many supporters and the generosity of Lilly Endowment Inc., 2015 was a banner year for the Ripley County Community Foundation.  In August 2014 Lilly Endowment announced its sixth Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VI) initiative.  Through GIFT VI, Lilly Endowment matched $500,000 in donations to the Ripley County Community Foundation.  As a result of this opportunity, $1.25 million were added to the Foundation’s assets.

The Board of Directors were overwhelmed by the support the Ripley County Community Foundation received in response to Lilly Endowment’s GIFT VI initiative.  More than 1,500 individuals and businesses donated to the GIFT VI cause, with our youngest donor being 5 years old and our oldest donor being well into her 90’s. In responding to the GIFT VI challenge, donors created 21 new funds, which honor loved ones, businesses and non-profit organizations. Perhaps most intriguing about GIFT VI is the fact that these additional assets could generate an additional $60,000 in grants each year, depending upon earnings.

The Board of Directors strives for the Foundation to be a catalyst for new programs and opportunities; to partner with local organizations and municipal entities in supporting and enhancing education and the amenities available in Ripley County communities; and to ensure that the Foundation and its charitable assets will perpetually generate dividends. The support the Ripley County Community Foundation received through the GIFT VI initiative is an indicator that the community values the work of the Foundation and that its efforts remain relevant to Ripley County’s needs.

The Board of Directors thanks you for your generosity and stands prepared to continue to Connect People Who Care with Causes That Matter.
