Rising Sun HS Has Three ORVC Weekly Leaders

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Rising Sun High School Shiners lead the way in the newest Ohio River Valley Conference Player of the Week honors.

For the week of April 28-May 3, Rising Sun softball star Alix DeDreu was voted as the ORVC Softball Player of the Week. She extended her shutout streak to six games with two wins last week. In those games, she pitched masterfully over 12 innings with 19 strikeouts and allowing just five hits. She also performed on offense with 6 hits with three doubles, 7 RBI, 6 hits, and 4 runs scored.

On the golf course, Rising Sun’s Bryce Murray was honored as the ORVC Golfer of the Week. Murray shot a 33 at the Links at Rising Star to medal a meet.

Rising Sun’s Zach Martini shared the ORVC Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week with South Ripley’s Austin Allen. Martini had a 1600M run at 4:58 and a 3200M run at 10:48. The speedy Allen had a 100M dash time of :11.19, a 200M time of :23.29, a 400M at :52.41, and a long jump that measured 19’4 ¾”.

Jac-Cen-Del was well-represented, too. Alex Schoettmer was named the ORVC Baseball Player of the Week. He pitched a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts in five innings against Southwestern last week. At the plate, Schoettmer had 8 hits, 9 RBI, 6 runs scored, and 2 home runs. He even stole a base.

Fellow Eagle athlete Kelsey Bowling shared ORVC Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week with Milan’s Grace Herzog. Bowling ran the high hurdles at :16.53, the low hurdles at :52.07, and had a long jump at 15’9”. Herzog ran the 100M at :12.88 and the 400M at 1:05.
