school-budget-money-spending.jpg(St. Leon, Ind.) – Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools’ Board of Trustees will hear a proposal for the district’s 2015 budget Thursday.

Sunman-Dearborn Schools Finance Director Charles Blake will present the budget to the board during the 7:00 p.m. meeting at East Central High School, according to the meeting agenda.

The board could vote to advertise the proposed budget in local newspapers. Advertising of budgets is required before Indiana school boards can vote to approve the spending plan.

School board members are currently considering refinancing the bond on Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School in order to free up about $1.5 million for repairs at school buildings throughout the district.

The school corporation’s 2014 budget added up to $42.8 million, down from $43.5 million in 2013. The 2015 budget total could be less if enrollment in the district continues to decline as it has in recent years.

Other items on Thursday’s meeting agenda include hiring of a technology director, a review of the 2014 financial report, and accepting a donation.
