(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A couple southeastern Indiana cities rank among the safest in Indiana.

The home security company SafeWise has put out a ranking of the safest cities with populations over 4,000. The SafeWise report looked at 2015 FBI Crime Report statistics and metrics such as violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people.

Lawrenceburg ranks as the 14th safest Hoosier city, up from 41st in the 2016 report. The Dearborn County seat has 0.60 violent crimes per 1,000 and 13.31 property crimes per 1,000.

Previously unranked, Batesville checked in as the 15th safest Hoosier city last year. The city has 4.28 violent crimes per 1,000 and 9.93 property crimes per 1,000.

Topping the Indiana list of safest cities was Ligonier, with just one burglary reported all year. Zionsville and Berne rounded out the top three.
