Saturday Brings Little League Openers In L’burg, Aurora, Harrison

little-league-baseball(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Local little leagues get their 2014 baseball seasons started this weekend.

The Lawrenceburg Little League Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. taking a route down Walnut Street. Following the parade, the league will honor longtime Lawrenceburg Parks Foreman Dennis Lewis by dedicating one of the fields at Todd-Creech Park in his honor. The ceremony begins at 10:45. There will also be a home run derby, face painting, and split-the-pot. The baseball games begin at 12:45 p.m.

In Harrison, the Harrison Junior Baseball league will mark its opening day with a parade from the old Kroger parking lot on Harrison Avenue to the Melvin Lake Memorial Park fields complex on Campbell Road. The parade starts at 9:00 a.m.

Also on Saturday, the Aurora Little League Opening Day parade will start at 9:00 a.m., heading through downtown Aurora then across U.S. 50 to the little league fields. The parade’s grand marshal will be Cincinnati Reds employee Teddy Kremer, who has been featured on ESPN. Read more about those festivities here.
