(Greensburg, Ind.) – A member of the Switzerland County Community Schools Board of Trustees has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.

Tammy Hayes was arrested in August 2013 after being arrested on a warrant out of Decatur County for Fraud on a Financial Institution (Class C felony) and Theft (Class D felony).

Hayes, a former loan mortgage originator for Greensburg-based Main Source Bank, is accused of taking about $48,000 of the bank’s customer appraisal fees through a scheme that spanned from January 2010 until April 2013.

A conditional plea agreement was filed Thursday in Decatur County Superior Court that would see Hayes plead to the Class C felony Fraud charge punishable by two to eight years. The Theft charge would be dismissed.

Other terms of the plea agreement were not disclosed in online records. It’s unclear if Hayes would be permitted to retain her seat on the school board. Her term runs through 2016.

A restitution hearing is scheduled for November 24. Hayes’ sentencing hearing will happen on December 15 in Decatur County.

I was a "victim" of her little scheme and jail time isn't the answer. When trying to refinance my home, I went to her to inquire about the possibility of refinance. After giving her ALL of the information and asking her if there would be any issues to refinance, such as debt to income ratio or the current home value, I gave her money.  When issues arose, I questioned her why she urged me to proceed she had no answers.  NOW I know why she pushed it.   I would like my money back!!!

@dmorrison  The Greensburg office was taking a list of names but you need to contact them to get your name on the list.
