Little to no damage was done to a South Dearborn Community Schools bus which was struck by another vehicle on a slick country road Wednesday morning.
A passenger car struck the stopped school bus head-on on Sangamaw Road just after 9:00 a.m.
Nine students were aboard the bus at the time, says South Dearborn Community Schools Superintendent John Mehrle, who was on the scene. None of the students or the bus driver were hurt.
Parents of the students were contacted. The children, most of them bound for Dillsboro Elementary, were taken on to school by school administrators.
Mehrle commended the actions of the bus driver. “She handled the situation very professionally and took good care of our students.”
The driver of the other vehicle, 27-year-old Donna Walker of Aurora, was initially reported to be injured, but dispatchers said all involved in the accident refused transport to the hospital. The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department says Walker was cited for having expired plates and no proof of insurance.
