SD Opening Knight Is Singing Success In Loveland
By Mike Perleberg
(Aurora, Ind.) – South Dearborn High School’s Opening Knight Show Choir added a new piece of hardware to the school’s trophy case on Saturday.
The choir led by director Justin Selmeyer competed at the Loveland Showfest, earning the Grand Champion award in the small mixed division, the group’s third Grand Championship this season. The group was also recognized for Outstanding Vocals and Choreography.
According to Selmeyer, during the daytime awards, Opening Knight jumped four large mixed show choirs to land in the evening finals, where they were the smallest competitor in the finals.
Individuals earned awards as well. Brendan Slack was named Outstanding Male Soloist and Andrew Armbruster was named Outstanding Performer.
Opening Knight Show Choir has a busy week ahead. On Thursday, February 20 they will perform at the 76th Annual Valley Choral Festival in Charlestown, Indiana. They will then compete on Saturday, February 22 at the Double H Showcase at Harrison (Ohio) High School.
The group tried out for television show “America’s Got Talent” in January in Indianapolis. They are waiting to hear back on whether they will be invited to appear on the reality show.
