SEI Lawmaker Won’t Run For Re-Election

(Switzerland County, Ind.) – A local state lawmaker says he will not seek re-election in 2018.

State Senator Jim Smith’s district includes Switzerland County as well as Jefferson, Clark, Jackson, Jennings, Scott, and Washington counties.

“I’ve been fortunate to serve the constituents of [these counties,]” Smith said in a news release. “While serving in the Senate, I have had many meaningful experiences and worked on a variety of issues to make Indiana ‘A State That Works.’

Smith, who was first elected in 2010, has not provided a reason for not running for another term.

The Republican from Charlestown continue to serve in the legislature until his term expires in November 2018.
