Sheriff Identifies Dead Jail Inmate
By Mike Perleberg
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – There is new information about the death of an inmate being held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
Dearborn County Sheriff Mike Kreinhop has identified the victim as Leland C. Houston II, 49, of Sunman.
Houston’s death is under investigation by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit. According to the sheriff’s department, on Thursday morning Houston was found unresponsive in his jail cell.
CPR was administered by jail personnel. Houston was then transported by Lawrenceburg EMS to Dearborn County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators do not suspect foul play in Houston’s death. A cause of death is still under investigation with an autopsy to be performed to help make that determination.
Houston had been booked into the jail on Sunday, February 9. He was indicted by a Dearborn County Grand Jury on February 7 on two counts of Rape (Class B felony) and a single count of Incest (Class C felony). The charges were only allegations, as his case was still pending in Dearborn Circuit Court.
Whoever says the ex would not do this does NOT know her at all. If this would gone to trial another police dept has all the proof that would of set him free and her behind bars for multiple false reporting.
I have known this family for a long time. The ex would not get back at him like this. you all need to grow up I know what kind of person Leland was. So get your story straight. And it seems know one cares about the victim. that is my only concern what has this done to her.
He just took the easy way out he was a nasty perv who should have the same thing done to him as he done the victim I have no pitty on ppl who are like this its one less rapist in the world
He was innocent. they say your innocent til proven guilty its the other way around. hes my step dad.n is a great guy!!!
@tttt4Sorry rather they were or were not a reason of death it is public record. So seeing as all arrests in Indiana are of public record putting the information on here is just fine. Also it has plenty to do with the story. He died in jail ergo the question because why, and why was he incarcerated. Who, What, When, Where, Why being the 5 W's of journalism. Well of course the would not report that "him and his wife" anything. That is hearsay, and interpreted as libel. It's not heartless, it's journalism. I am sorry for that it can't always be pleasant.
I do not see how you can put things that don't have any concern to his death on here. Did you put that him and his wife separated and that she is trying to get back at him for that so she filed these false charges? Really WSCH? There have been some real bad stories you all have been putting out there. How would you like for someone to make a report of your loved one like this? You are heartless. His charges has nothing to do with his death.
these charges were all a BIG lie made up by his ex wife cause she's mad cause he left her. this man is innocent and if went to trial it would of been proven!! there is plenty evidence from another police dept to prove it. the ex would of been in jail had this gone to trial
