Press release from Indiana Department of Transportation

(Dearborn County, Ind.) – Indiana Department of Transportation officials advise motorists traveling Interstate 74 through Dearborn County to be prepared for slowdowns—Thursday and Friday night—when approaching the State Road 46 overpass near St. Leon.

Indiana State Police patrols will stage “rolling roadblocks” to delay I-74 traffic approaching the S.R. 46 bridge site between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.  This will allow work to replace the bridge’s superstructure to take place over travel lanes without endangering motorists.  The “roadblocks” will alternate between eastbound and westbound lanes.

Drivers can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes with each sequenced slowdown.

Duncan Robertson, Inc., of Franklin is the state’s contractor for this $2.1 million Seymour District bridge project which focuses on replacing the S.R. 46 bridge’s aging superstructure.  Steel beams are replacing existing concrete beams.  Piers will be repaired.  New bridge approaches will be built.  And a new bridge deck will be constructed atop the 4-span 258-foot-long structure.
