(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Half of the father and son duo accused of using a rifle to hold up an Aurora grocery store is pleading guilty.

Malachi Draper, 19, allegedly accompanied his father Ronald Draper, Jr., 43, in robbing Tandy’s IGA on Third Street last January 21. They are charged with Robbery with a Deadly Weapon (Class B felony) and Theft (Class D felony).

Prosecutors and attorneys representing Malachi Draper have negotiated a plea deal. Details of Draper’s punishment are not known.

The plea hearing will be May 11 in Dearborn Superior Court I.

Meanwhile, Ronald Draper is still scheduled to go to a jury trial June 11. The judge has assigned a deadline of May 21 for a plea agreement to be reached.

Both men remain held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

Investigators allege the Drapers each wore a mask as they entered the grocery store at about 10:00 that night. Ronald Draper was armed with a gun as they ordered the employees to the floor.

They retrieved a large amount of cash before fleeing, but police soon tracked the father and son to a home nearby and arrested them.
