Special Olympics Indiana Wants YOU To Volunteer

(Aurora, Ind.) – Volunteers are needed for this year’s Special Olympics Indiana Area 9 Spring Games hosted by Special Olympics Indiana – Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties.

The games will take place at East Central High School on Saturday, May 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“Our athletes are getting excited and ready to compete at this year’s spring games,” said Greg Townsend, Delegation Coordinator. “If you are interested in volunteering please do. It takes a lot of people to put these games on without a hitch.”

Spring Games includes track and field events, softball and tennis ball throws, bocce, javelin and MATP (Motor Activities Training Program) events.  These events will bring the ten counties of Ripley, Ohio, Dearborn, Franklin, Decatur, Wayne, Rush, Union, Shelby and Fayette together on one playing field with approximately 175 athletes and coaches. The public is invited; admission is free.

Special Olympics is in need of volunteers to serve as timers, clerks of course, recorders, finish line coordinators, heat coordinators, starters, judges, escorts and more. Overall 100 volunteers are needed.
