SR 262 Could Reopen By May 16

(Dillsboro, Ind.) – State Road 262 near Dillsboro may be within a week of reopening.

State Representative Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) said Friday that INDOT engineers tell him that ST 262 should reopen by Friday, May 16.

The highway has been closed to all traffic since early April, when heavy Spring rains caused some portions of the roadway to sink by several inches.

The Indiana Department of Transportation contracted a company to repair the road in April. Those contractors have been using a process called “soil snailing” to secure the soil beneath the roadbed. Last week, crews began working to stabilize the slope along the highway.
