(Jefferson County, Ind.) – A Vevay man is accused of leading police on a vehicle pursuit in Jefferson County.

Carl Bruce Hickerson III, 26, was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle spotted by a sheriff’s deputy on Saturday, August 12, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department news release. The 1996 Honda passenger car had been reported stolen in the early morning hours from a residence on West Clifty Drive near Madison.

Instead of stopping for the deputy, Hickerson sped off into Madison. He allegedly ran stop signs and passed other vehicles.

Hickerson stopped soon after attempting to flee and was taken into custody without further incident.

Hickerson is now in the Jefferson County Jail charged with Receiving Stolen Auto Parts (level 6 felony) and Resisting Law Enforcement (class A misdemeanor). Bond was set at $2,000 cash only during his initial appearance in court on Monday.
