UPDATE: Student Hit By Vehicle Near Walton Verona HS In Critical Condition

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, a 17-year-old male is suffering from life-threatening injuries following Wednesday morning’s accident.

Deputies say the teen was attempting to cross Mary Grubbs Highway when a westbound vehicle struck him as the traffic light was green.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Tara Koors, 51, of Walton. As previously reported, she has been cooperating with the investigation.

(Walton, Ky.) – A student was air lifted to an area hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning.

The accident was first reported around 6:50 a.m. on Mary Grubbs Highway School Road near Walton Verona High School.

Initial dispatch reports indicate the pedestrian was struck while running across the highway, reports The Enquirer.

The pedestrian was transported via Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The extent of the victim’s injuries has not been released. However, reports suggest the victim is a student at Walton Verona High School.

Police say the driver has been cooperative as the investigation continues.
