(Sunman, Ind.) – A suspect is behind bars in connection with an armed robbery at a Sunman convenience store.

Eagle 99.3 told you first when the K & K Mini Mart on Meridian Street was held up at about 6:03 a.m. Tuesday. A man armed with a long gun entered the store and demanded money from the female clerk. The suspect was seen fleeing towards the nearby Trees Mobile Home Park.

A manhunt ensued. Sunman Elementary School had to be placed on lockdown. Residents in the mobile home park and the town were on edge wondering if the robber might still be lurking in the area.

Later that day, K & K Mini-Mart owner Chris Kelly posted a surveillance photo of the suspect on his Facebook page. It gained more than 640 shares. According to a court affidavit filed Thursday in Ripley Circuit Court, although the robber had covered his face well, one Facebook user who saw the photo recognized the suspect’s clothing and called police.

The tipster told police where Raisley might be. Police found a green pickup truck at that location. Inside the truck was a receipt from the Kroger store in Harrison, Ohio.

Investigators went to the store and reviewed security footage. They viewed Raisley on recorded video entering the Kroger approximately after the robbery occurred.

On Thursday, Michael Raisley was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Class B felony), according to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office website. He remains held in the Ripley County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance.

Raisley allegedly pointed the gun at the store clerk during the robbery. Kelly says the employee was “very scared.”

“But she handled it well,” he added. “She followed the protocol to get him out of the store. She’s a great employee.”

Kelly said his store reopened about four hours after the robbery.
