(Undated) – Do you know who Eric Holcomb is?
It turns out almost a quarter of Hoosiers have no idea who is their state’s governor.
A new survey from Morning Consult asked Americans about their state’s governor. It found that 23 percent of 4,632 Indiana registered voters surveyed said they either did not know or had no opinion of Holcomb. It is the third-highest unknown/no opinion percentage among all the country’s governors.
The survey did contain some good news for the Republican governor. Fifty-three percent of Indiana voters said they approve of Holcomb’s performance, middle of the road when compared with the nation’s 49 other governors.
Twenty-four percent disapprove of Holcomb. That ranked as the 12th lowest.
The margin of error in the Indiana survey was one percent.
Holcomb took office only a year ago, selected by a Republican caucus after former Governor Mike Pence left to become President Donald Trump’s running mate. His lack of name recognition may stem from not having to go through a campaign.
The governor may be attempting to build up his name recognition. He has been touring the state over the past week promoting his Next Level Roads program, a $4.7 billion, five-year plan to maintain and build roads and bridges.
