Switz Co. Boys, Girls Crowned ORVC Track & Field Champs; Weekly Awards Announced

(Vevay, Ind.) – Conference champions were crowned and a host of talented student-athletes shared Ohio River Valley Conference weekly honors.

The ORVC report for the week of May 8-13 was released Tuesday.

The Switzerland County Pacers boys and girls track and field teams both took first place at the ORVC Track and Field Meet. The boys dominated the competition with 147.33 points. South Ripley finished in second place with 79 total points. The girls were even more dominate, defeating second place South Ripley by a score of 152-69. Switzerland County’s Adam Pietrykowski was named the ORVC Boys and Girls Track and Field Coach of the Year.

South Ripley’s Megan Cole was among the top performers at the ORVC Meet. Her 12:03 time in the 3200 meters was a new ORVC Meet record.

The ORVC Baseball Player of the Week award was split between Jac-Cen-Del’s Matt Drockelman and Switzerland County’s Dalton Roark.

For the week, Drockelman went 8-for-17 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. On the mound, the Eagles star tossed 12 2/3 innings, while striking out 13 and pickup up a win against Milan.

Roark tallied 6 runs, 5 hits, 5 RBIs, 4 stolen bases, 3 doubles and a homer in five games to earn weekly honors.

Sydney Bostic (Rising Sun), Taryn Cline (Milan) and Morgen Carroll (JCD) were named the ORVC Softball Co-Players of the Week.

Bostic got it done at the plate, collecting 11 hits, 9 RBIs, 6 runs and 6 doubles in four games. Cline earned weekly honors by throwing a no-hitter against South Ripley, and Carroll did it all with 6 RBIs, 4 hits, and a grand slam, while striking out 34 batters.

The ORVC Boys Golfer of the Week went to Rising Sun’s Brent Turner.
