Switz Co. Tourism Announces $35K In Grants

(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Switzerland County Tourism announces that over $35,000 was awarded in first quarter Community Grants to help promote tourism and overnight stays in Switzerland County.  An additional $12,000 was given to Vevay Main Street to help fund their 2014 First Friday event.

The following non-profit organizations received 2014 Community Grant awards

-$4,400 to the Historic Hoosier Theater for various performances throughout 2014 including Swiss Idol, Frisch Marionettes, two ballet performances, Children’s Theater Workshop and two plays TBA.

-$2,123 to Musee de Venoge for an Open House in April 2014.

-$5,000 to Jeff-Craig Fire Department for the On the River Car Show in September 2014.

-$15,000 to Swiss Wine Festival for big name entertainers and general entertainment during the August 2014 event.

-$3,000 to Switzerland County Historical Society for an old-fashioned tent Chautauqua with music and entertainment in July 2014.

-$5,826 to Switzerland County Historical Society and Musee de Venoge for a Rural Heritage Tour in September 2014

Switzerland County Tourism adopted a new quarterly Community Grant system in 2014 and will accept applications from non-profit organizations again in April. All projects or events are to benefit tourism and promote overnight stays in Switzerland County. Recommendations for funding were made through the organization’s Community Grant committee who read submitted grant applications.
