Switzerland Co. Commissioner Haskell To Resign
By Mike Perleberg
(Switzerland County, Ind.) – A Switzerland County commissioner is resigning his position.
John Haskell submitted his resignation letter during the county commissioners’ meeting on Monday. The resignation will be effective June 1, with 2 ½ years remaining in his term.
Haskell, 57, shared the news on his Facebook page Tuesday, alluding to controversy about his residency in Switzerland County owning no home there and his wife living in Rockport, Indiana.
“Good Morning! Want to Thank all the Switzerland County Voters who supported me over the last year and a half. Unfortunately a few have worked real hard to get me out of office. It was a pleasure to serve you and I wish all of the county good luck and now after 5 years of weekend dating and countless miles driving Candy and I can live in Rock port Indiana full time. I will be working full time at Champion Ford in Reo. So once again Thank You and I’m sorry I couldn’t fulfill my 4 year term. It was truly a dream of mine! Good Luck and May GOD Bless,” Haskell said.
A caucus of Switzerland County Republicans will be held to choose who will serve the remainder of Haskell’s term, which runs through 2016.
