(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Law enforcement agencies in Switzerland County arrested 255 individuals in 2015, according to Sheriff Nathan E. Hughes.

The year-end statistics for Switzerland County area law enforcement departments was released on Monday. The 2015 Switzerland County law enforcement statistics only account for single booking records, and do not account for multiple charges during an arrest.

Last year, Switzerland County Sheriff’s deputies accounted for 167 of the arrests, while Vevay Police Department officers arrested 62 individuals and Indiana State Police arrested 26 people.

Statistics show that the Switzerland County Jail had an average daily population of 35.7 people last year. The average stay at the jail was 28.5 days.

The sheriff’s department answered 7,252 calls during 2015, and deputies responded to 2,402 of the calls. Suspicious vehicle reports, traffic stops, burglaries and theft, and OWI calls all decreased in 2015.

Domestic disturbances, auto accidents, juvenile calls, and reports of fights were among the issues that increased across Switzerland County in 2015.
