Teen Charged With Batesville Burglary

(Batesville, Ind.) – Batesville Police solved a home break-in that occurred on the city’s west side last week.


Officers received a report from a homeowner on the 500 block of Hoene Avenue that her home was burglarized while she was at work on Wednesday, May 16. The victim reported jewelry and money was stolen.


When Officer Ryan Metcalf and CSI Chris Smith responded to investigate, they identified a potential suspect while conducting a neighborhood canvass.  A neighbor of the victim reported seeing a local teen in the area that previously lived in the neighborhood.


The next day, Officer Blake Roope brought Austin B. Cobb, 19, of Batesville, in for questioning.  


Cobb was subsequently arrested for Residential Burglary (Class B felony) and Theft (Class D felony). Cobb is being held in the Ripley County Jail.


Officers said several items stolen from the residence were recovered.
