By Mike Perleberg
(Milton, Ky.) – A teenage girl among the victims of a murder-suicide in Kentucky had ties to Ripley County.
Kentucky State Police on Tuesday identified 16-year-old Carlin Sarah Davis as one of two victims shot at her aunt Niki Davis’ home in Milton, Kentucky early Sunday morning, July 20. The man who committed the murder and shooting, Niki Davis’ ex-boyfriend Robert Harmon, 48, turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
Carlin Davis and Harmon were each pronounced dead at the scene.
Niki Davis,33, was shot twice in the face. She remains hospitalized at University of Louisville Hospital as of Tuesday, state police said, but is expected to survive.
Carlin Davis turned 16 just six day before her death. She had previously lived in Holton before moving to Trimble County, Kentucky. Her grandparents Wayne and Cindy Vanosdol still reside there, according to her obituary.
The funeral service for Davis, who was soon to begin her junior year at Trimble County High School, has been scheduled for Thursday, July 24 at noon at Stratton-Karstetter Funeral Home in Versailles. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
She will be buried at Hopewell Cemetery in Holton.
Davis’ relatives have asked that memorial contributions be made to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
