This Is Indiana’s Free Fishing Weekend

Posted On June 01, 2012

Fishing
(Undated) – All Hoosiers can fish for free, regardless of whether they have a fishing license, at Indiana’s state parks and lakes this weekend.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ annual Free Fishing Weekend means adults do not need a fishing license to fish in state waterways.

Among the free fishing spots in southeast Indiana are Versailles State Park and Brookville Lake. Recreation areas across the state are planning fishing derbies, casting clinics, fish-cleaning demonstrations and cooking classes.

Children age 17 and younger never need a fishing license in Indiana.

Any other time of year, adults are required to possess a fishing license to fish in a state waterway. The standard license is $17 and can be purchased online at indianaoutdoor.in.gov.
