(Crestview Hills, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men’s basketball team will get the opportunity of a lifetime this fall when they face the winningest team in NCAA Division I history.

The Saints athletic department announced Thursday that the men’s basketball team will take on the Kentucky Wildcats in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena in Lexington on October 27.

What can only be described as a tune-up game for the Wildcats, the Saints are excited to test themselves against one of the best teams the country has to offer.

“Coach Calipari and his staff are doing a wonderful thing for this state by annually allowing young men from in-state small colleges and their program to share in the remarkable history and tradition of UK basketball, stated Thomas More Head Coach Drew Cooper. “Thomas More is a special community and I’m elated that UK has chosen us to play in an exhibition this season. Many thanks to Mitch Barnhart, DeWayne Peevy, Coach Calipari and his staff. We’ll try our hardest for 40 minutes in hopes each team can benefit in order to prepare for their respective upcoming seasons.”

The Saints are coming off an excellent 2016-17 season that saw them win the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. Thomas More returns 18 players and all five starters from last season’s squad that eclipsed the 20-win mark for the first time in school history.

They will oppose a Kentucky team that won its third-straight SEC Tournament and advanced to its sixth Elite Eight in the last eight seasons.

The game will mark the first time the two schools have met on the hardwood.

Game time, TV designation and ticket information will be announced at a later date on the Thomas More athletic website, www.tmcsaints.com.
