(Columbus, Ind.) – Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart recently stepped out of retirement and into a very special race car.
Stewart hopped into a three-quarter midget car for the 20-lap King of UMRA TQ Midgets feature at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairground in Columbus, Indiana on Wednesday night.
However, it wasn’t just any three-quarter midget. It was a midget sponsored by the Indiana Chapter of the Cure Starts Now.
The Cure Starts Now is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding pediatric brain cancer in effort to find a cure to all cancers, starting with DIPG.
Starting the race in sixth position, Stewart quickly worked his way to the top of the field, and dominated on his way to taking the checkered flag.
The event was the first time Stewart has raced in his hometown since 2013.
