(Cincinnati, Oh.) – This winter the AAA Roadside Rescue Team saw a 33 percent increase in calls for assistance in the Cincinnati area.

AAA announced today that a total of 66,050 drivers were rescued by the AAA Roadside Rescue Team. Most calls were in regards to the severe winter weather this season. A total of 4,390 drivers called about winch-out services due to slick roadways, which is a 200 percent increase from the last winter season. More than 17,000 drivers called in regards to dead batteries, and nearly 9,000 drivers called for tire service.

Due to the severe winter weather the area experienced this season, road crews used an increased amount of de-icing products. Such products are potentially corrosive and AAA recommends drivers thoroughly clean their vehicles to prevent damage.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to clean the undercarriage of their cars and tires. AAA also recommends that vehicle owners wash rubber floor mats and vacuum carpets to remove any products tracked into their vehicles by shoes. Windshield wipers should be inspected and replaced if needed. Tires and batteries should be inspected as well.

Drivers also have the opportunity to receive a free 36-point check-up for their vehicles. All area AAA/Bob Sumerel Tire & Service locations are offering the free service. Appointments are recommended.
