(Osgood, Ind.) – An arrest was made after a vehicle was struck by a train in Osgood.

Osgood Town Marshal Eric Roush says the passenger car stalled while in the railroad crossing on South Sycamore Street at Railroad Avenue. Three occupants in the vehicle were able to get out and run from the tracks before the vehicle was struck by the 7,000-foot-long train.

The CSX train was moving eastbound at about 36 MPH at the time of the collision. The car had been moved about 100 yards and was considered a total loss.

Roush said the driver of the vehicle was arrested by driving while suspended with a prior.

The train was stopped for about four hours, blocking railroad crossings through much of the west side of the Town of Osgood for that time, Roush said.
