Two Arrested On Drug Charges In Batesville

(Batesville, Ind.) – A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two in Batesville.

Batesville Police say they stopped a vehicle on East Pearl Street Wednesday night for a minor traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, canine officer Jinx alerted the presence of illegal drugs, and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

According to the Batesville Police Department, Matthew Phelps, 29, of Maryland and Ashley N. Reese, 20, of Cedar Grove, Indiana, were found in possession of heroin and hypodermic needles.

Phelps and Reese were both taken into custody and placed in Ripley County Jail.

The two were released Thursday on $2,050 bond.
