(Batesville, Ind.) – A Batesville man is accused in two attempted burglaries from local businesses.

Elijah Paul, 34, was arrested Tuesday on charges of Theft (Class D felony), Burglary of a Structure (Class C felony), and Criminal Mischief (Class B midemeanor).

Batesville Police say Paul broke his way into a maintenance building at McNair Manor Apartments on Tekulve Avenue on September 19th, taking various tools. One of those tools was a drill.

On the 25th, Paul allegedly tried to crack a money machine at Keep It Clean Car Wash, also on Tekulve Avenue, by drilling into it, possibly with the same drill taken the week before.

Batesville Police investigators followed up on multiple leads in making Paul’s arrest. He is currently held at the Ripley County Jail in Versailles.
