UPDATE: Comcast Internet, Phone Restored

Update posted at 8:45 a.m.:


Comcast phone and internet service was restored in southeast Indiana as of 8:15 a.m. The services, along with many television channels, had been unavailable since at least 4:00 a.m.


A Comcast spokesperson said the outage was likely caused by overnight maintenance on a fiberoptic line in the area. Once the problem was found the maintenance work was reversed, restoring service.


The spokesperson said Comcast apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience.



Update posted at 8:07 a.m.:


Widespread Comcast internet and phone service outages persist in Dearborn, Ohio, and Ripley counties as of 8:00 a.m.


The outage has also left many customers with only limited television stations. Only channels 3 through 13 are viewable.


A Comcast spokesperson said the company was not aware of any widespread outages, although residents throughout the Eagle 99.3 listening area have been without service since at least 4:00 a.m.


Dearborn County Communications says its dispatch center still has 911 service in working order, but communication to other area emergency and law enforcement departments has been severed.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – People in southeast Indiana are waking up Thursday morning to find they have no internet or phone service.


Comcast customers in Lawrenceburg, Greendale, Aurora, Rising Sun, Hidden Valley, Guilford, and Versailles have reported service outages since about 4:00 a.m.


A cause of the outage is not known. Comcast has not provided an estimated timeframe for restoring service.
