UPDATE: Driver Says He Had Seizure Before State Street Crash

Update published Thursday, December 7:

A medical episode suffered by the driver may have caused a vehicle to slam into a utility pole in West Harrison on Wednesday.

Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies say Nicholas McBride, 19, reported he may have had a seizure when he was driving on the 400 block of State Street at around 7:30 a.m.

McBride, of West Harrison, was hospitalized with facial lacerations and for treatment following the seizure.

Deputies cited McBride for operating without financial responsibility and a learner permit violation.

Harrison Fire & EMS assisted at the crash scene.


Original story published Wednesday, December 6:

(West Harrison, Ind.) – A person was hospitalized after their vehicle wrecked into a utility pole in West Harrison on Wednesday.

Dispatchers say a vehicle struck a utility pole on the 400 block of South State Street at around 7:25 a.m.

One person was transported to Mercy West Hospital by Harrison EMS.

South State Street is open to traffic as of 8:30.
