The Indianapolis Star reports it has confirmed that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will take the job as Purdue University’s next president.

Daniels, who at one point was thought to be a contender for U.S. president, is finishing his second term as president. Because he is term-limited, his last day in office will come in January.

The Purdue Board of Trustees could meet Thursday to formally select Daniels, the Star reported, citing two sources.

Current Purdue president France Cordova announced last year she would retire July 15.
