A fundraiser for injured Switzerland County High School football player Colton Schirmer was hugely successful.

More than 730 pizzas were sold at Hunt Brothers Pizza at the Shell station in Vevay on Saturday. Pacers football coach Ryan Jesop said Monday the fundraiser generated $51,793 for the Schirmer family to help cover medical expenses.

Schirmer suffered a broken neck in a game against North Decatur this past fall. He’s been fighting to regain movement in much of his body since then.

When Hunt Brothers learned that their pizza is among Colton’s favorite foods, they decided to help out with the fundraiser. The Stephenson family, owners of the Shell station, also contributed their time and resources.

(Vevay, Ind.) – A fundraiser was held on Saturday at the River Valley Express, 802 Main Street in Vevay for Switzerland County High School Pacer football player Colton Schirmer as he continues his recovery following an on-field injury October 6 against North Decatur.

All Hunt Brothers Pizza sales on Saturday will be donated to the family, and Hunt Brothers will match the total.

According to Switzerland Co. Football Coach, Ryan Jesop, Joe Stephenson at the Shell gas station  told him that 730 total pizzas were sold.  That’s 230 more than the Hunt Brothers Pizza Company has ever sold at any event like this in the country.  Jesop says they can’t thank the community enough for supporting Colton and his family.

The grand total raised will be released early in the week when a check is presented to the family.

You can donate to help Colton Schirmer’s family with medical expenses on GoFundMe.
