UPDATE: Rising Sun Residents Hurt In Crash

Two Rising Sun residents were injured in a Wednesday morning crash on State Road 56.

 

Ohio County Sheriff’s Deputy Dee Smith said a van driven by Jane Garland, 56, had pulled onto the highway from Thuermer Hollow Road into the path of a passenger car driven by Charles E. Fletcher III, 31. The two vehicles then collided, a witness to the crash told police.

 

Both Garland and Fletcher were transported to Dearborn County Hospital for treatment. Their current medical conditions were not known.

 

State Road 56 was shut down to traffic for nearly an hour following the crash.

 

The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department.

 

 

 

Update posted at 8:12 a.m.:

 

State Road 56 reopened to traffic at about 7:50 a.m., dispatchers said.

 

The names and conditions of those injured in the crash have not been released.

 

The accident is being investigated by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – An accident with multiple injuries has resulted in the closure of State Road 56 in Ohio County Wednesday morning.

 

At about 7:00, two vehicles collided on the highway near the intersection with Thuermer Hollow Road, which is about halfway between Aurora and Rising Sun.
