UPDATE: Woman Collapsed In Road, Run Over
Update posted at 12:14 p.m.:
A Cleves woman has been identified as the person killed on Harrison Avenue in Harrison Township early Monday morning.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies say 43-year-old Melissa Meyers was walking on the road just East of Dry Fork Road when she collapsed due to a medical condition at about 5:51 a.m.
A car driven by Patrick Runtz, 25, soon came. Runtz was following another vehicle which swerved to miss Meyers, but Runtz did not see Meyers lying in the road in time to avoid running her over.
Meyers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, although speed may have contributed. No charges have been filed.
The accident is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit.
