More information has surfaced about the arrests of a South Dearborn school board member and his wife for allegedly providing alcohol to teenagers.
Terry Luhrsen, 44, and his wife, Tawnya Luhrsen, 43, are each charged with a single county of Neglect of a Dependant and 20 counts of Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.
At about 1:44 a.m. Sunday, the Dearborn County 911 Center received a complaint of an underaged drinking party at the Luhrsen’s home at 11200 Lattire Road in Aurora.
Upon arrival, officers saw approximately 30 vehicles parked in the front yard, according to a probable cause affidavit. Fifty to 75 people holding cups, cans, or bottles – most of them appearing to be very young – were seen in and around the residence. Police would later locate a beer trailer and coolers containing alcohol.
As police approached the residence, most of the crowd fled into the wooded areas surrounding the property. The 20 or so who stayed behind were identified by police as ranging in age from 16 to up to 19. One of the teenagers was the 17-year-old daughter of the Luhrsens.
Officers alleged they could detect the smell of alcohol on each of those teenagers.
The Luhrsens were each arrested and booked into the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday. They bonded out of jail that afternoon.
