UPDATE: Vehicle Catches Fire Following Crash

Update posted at 4:11 p.m.:

Dearborn County Sheriff’s crash investigators say that the woman injured in a Wednesday morning crash on Jackson Ridge Road was hospitalized.

The driver, Veronica Courtney, 22, of Lawrenceburg, was northbound on Jackson Ridge Road when her vehicle went off the roadway and struck a mailbox and trees.

Courtney was transported to Dearborn County Hospital. She was later transferred to UC Medical Center for treatment. Her current condition was not provided.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Bright Fire and EMS.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) – At least one person was hurt in a vehicle crash in eastern Dearborn County early Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred about 5:45 a.m. on Jackson Ridge Road just south of the intersection with Salt Fork Road.

The driver was hurt, but able to get out of the vehicle by the time first responders arrived. Good thing, too, because the vehicle caught fire shortly after police and fire fighters arrived on scene. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The victim’s name and condition have not been released.

Jackson Ridge Road remained closed at Salt Fork Road as of 6:30 a.m.
