Versailles Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

fatal-accident-crash-graphic-small.jpg(Versailles, Ind.) – Speed is cited as a possible contributor in a fatal motorcycle wreck in Ripley County on Sunday, June 15.

Ripley County Sheriff Rodney Stratton says David L. Shaw, 53, of Versailles, was riding a 1981 Suzuki GS 1000L motorcycle eastbound on County Road 200 South just east of County Road 175 West. The motorcycle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole head-on.

Shaw, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected, Stratton said. He was rushed by ambulance to Margaret Mary Health in Batesville where he died from his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police.

Assisting with accident were Versailles Fire First Responders, Versailles Fire Department, Rescue 69, Ripley County Medic, and Stat Flight.
