(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Pardon the dust, but it’s necessary for the addition of a new park in downtown Lawrenceburg.

Demolition crews with Wayne Contractors have been busy tearing down two buildings at the corner of High and Short streets since last week. The final walls came crashing down Monday.

The carpenters union building next door has been left intact.

The city has plans to construct a new civic park at the parking lot across the street. It would be capable of hosting Music on the River and other events.

Construction on the park could begin soon, Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun remarked at the Lawrenceburg Redevelopment Commission’s meeting on October 16. It could be completed in 2018.
