(Hanover, Ind.) – A southeastern Indiana man’s desperate plea to find a daughter he gave up for adoption went viral, and may have helped to reunite them.
Jerry Miller and his family launched a social media campaign this week to find the girl he last saw at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington in December of 1978.
Miller, who lives in Hanover, says he was going through a serious medical condition and was talked into putting the girl up for adoption. He’s been looking for the child ever since, but the records of the adoption are sealed.
“We know this is a long shot but he hasn’t given up hope,” Miller’s daughter, Jessica Wilson, wrote on the Facebook post.
As of Friday morning, the post has received more than 40,700 shares and 2,100 reactions.
Wilson posted an update Friday that Miller’s daughter has been found.
“Out of respect for her I am no giving any details right now but thank you everyone for your efforts and compassion and outpouring of kindness during this time!!” said Wilson.
