(Hanover, Ind.) – Former Batesville High School basketball standout Wes McKinney is playing at as high a level as ever.

McKinney, a 6’4″ junior for the Hanover College Panthers, has been named to the D3Hoops.com All-America Fourth Team. The website released its All-America selections on Saturday, March 18.

He’s the first Hanover player to ever receive national honors from D3Hoops.com.

In his junior season, McKinney averaged 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in earning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. He was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Great Lakes District First Team.

The former Batesville Bulldog helped the HCAC champion Panthers (26-4, 16-2 conference) reach the “Elite Eight” of the NCAA DIII National Tournament by hitting a buzzer-beating three pointer in their “Sweet 16” win over Hope College earlier this month (see video below). McKinney averaged better than 21 points per game in Hanover’s four-game tournament run.

McKinney is just as good in the classroom. In February, he was named a second team academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
