(Frankfort, Ky.) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials will detail an upcoming project on the Brent Spence Bridge on Monday.

Routine maintenance on the Interstate 75 bridge between Cincinnati and Covington will require lane closures and detours for 60 days this summer, which could add traffic on other tri-state bridges, such as the I-275 Carroll Cropper Bridge.

The Brent Spence Bridge Project Team will lay out plans for the maintenance project during a news conference in Covington at 11:00 a.m. Monday.

The bridge was built to handle up to 100,000 vehicles per day, but it is currently carrying twice that volume. The KTC says this maintenance project is unrelated to discussions regarding construction of a new Brent Spence Bridge and will help the existing bridge continue to be operation regardless of any new bridge.
