Original story published at 6:52 a.m.:
(Friendship, Ind.) – Southeastern Indiana REMC is reporting a significant number of power outages Thursday morning.
As many as 815 homes in REMC’s service territory were reported without power as of 6:15 a.m., according to the electricity cooperative’s online outage map. Most of the outages were concentrated in the Farmers Retreat, Friendship, and Versailles areas, with a few more in the areas of Oldenburg and Brookville.
As of 6:45, the number of outages had been reduced to 645.
A reason for the outages is not clear. Gusty winds up to 35 MPH or better are expected in the tri-state this morning as a strong cold front moves in, according to the National Weather Service. The winds are expected to dissipate this afternoon.
I’m sure we’ll be next… The wind can blow 5mph and go out and we’ve got Remc.
Ours wasn’t out because of the wind, it was hit. Went out before 5am
