“Worst Of The Worst” Child Molester Receives 36 Year Sentence
By Mike Perleberg
(Ripley County, Ind.) – After pleading guilty to multiple counts of Child Molesting, a Ripley County man has been sent to prison for 36 years.
Willie C. Napier, Jr. was arrested in 2016 after he was accused of molesting three children at his home in Osgood.
Last November as the case was about to go to trial, the 34-year-old Napier and Ripley County prosecutors reached an Agreed Charge Bargain. In accordance with the deal, Napier pleaded guilty to three counts of Child Molesting (level 4 felony). Prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of Child Molesting (level 1 felony) and a single count of Vicarious Sexual Gratification (level 3 felony).
Ripley Circuit Court Judge Ryan King accepted the agreement and convicted Napier.
After hearing testimony from the caretaker of one victim, King sentenced Napier on Tuesday to the maximum 12 years on each level 4 felony. The sentences were stacked consecutively and strictly to prison, meaning Napier will do 36 years behind bars.
The judge noted that Napier’s molestation went far beyond fondling or touching. The victims continue to receive counseling to this day, King noted.
“The Court understands that this is the maximum sentence allowed by the plea agreement/charge bargain. The Court further understands that the maximum is reserved for the worst of the worst offenders,” King wrote in his sentencing order.
Napier must also register as a sexually violent predator for life upon his release from prison.
