(Osgood, Ind.) - Police are on the hunt for a man who tried to hold up a family pharmacy.
Indiana State Police say a man entered the G.A. Triplett and Son Pharmacy on North Buckeye Street in Osgood around 3:10 Monday afternoon.
The man, using a cane to walk, went straight behind the pharmacy desk and ripped a phone out of the wall as the pharmacist was speaking on the line. Two other employees realized what was happening and left the store out the back door.
As the suspect tried to leave, the pharmacist tackled him. The suspect went back to the pharmacy desk after a quick struggle, but the pharmacist had closed and locked the door.
Investigators say the suspect pulled out a handgun to break glass leading to the pharmacy area. He then retrieved his cane and exited through the front door of the pharmacy.
A search of the area by troopers and Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies did not locate the suspect.
Eagle 99.3 has learned that the pharmacist, Robert Buxton, suffered a heart attack later Monday evening. He was recovering at an Indianapolis hospital Tuesday.
Indiana State Police investigators are seeking assistance from the public to help identify the suspect.
He is described as white, in his mid 30’s, husky build, with a goatee and was last seen wearing a light colored, baggy T-shirt, blue jeans, ball cap and carrying a cane.
